While Google’s home page has yet to change for the Halloween festivities, I did notice a change in their Street View icon. There is now a Witch in place of the marker that is used for navigating around Street View’s available streets.

Google Witch

If you have not used Google’s Street View, now would be a great time to give it a try. Not only can you see your house from street level, you can also see your neighbors! I have used it before when I was looking for a hotel to stay at in San Diego. Instead of searching for “San Diego Hotels” in Google, I went to the map for San Diego, used the street view, and picked the best looking hotel that was near the water. That awesome hotel by the way was the Omni Hotel in San Diego.

By now you may have heard that Southern California has become the United State’s newest fireplace. The BBC even covered the story.

Over at a friend’s blog she asked “What Would You Save” and CNN in partnership with TIME ran an article documenting some of the things that people had saved from their homes.

I had a hard time coming up with 5 things, but perhaps that stems from the way I grew up.

Needless to say, it can be somewhat emotional to put yourself in the shoes of others during times of emergency. I’ve mentioned before that I like to make up stories based on minimal information. So when I saw this image, it really set off a story for me. The things she took (if you don’t like clicking on links) were two pictures in frames, and a Dr. Seuss book.

As a fun creative writing exercise, or just a stretching of the mental mass, what reasons can you think of that would explain this book being saved?

I got a fairly good response from my last Work IM convo post, so I thought I’d share this one with you all. I’ve had this one for a while as the convo took place about 3 weeks ago, but it is all real, no edits.  Some important info to help you understand what you are about to read.

  • The names have been changed
  • B Lumbergh plays the part of the department director
  • Shirley is the department manager (and much more)
  • Bob is one of my fellow co-workers
  • I had to much coffee that day
  • I still have my job

Everyone seems to have their own ideas and opinions on the subject of Keyword Density. Check your favorite SEO blog (don’t have one?) and I’m sure you’ll find an article or two on the subject.

While I have not directly posted on the subject before today, I have touched on the subject in my article about writing content. The post is also a representation of what I think is a good use of keywords in the content, also known as “Keyword Density,” as well as an example of a few other tactics to help your content get found in the search engines.

So, instead of following the pack and writing a report of the perfect ratio of content/keywords, I thought I’d post something a bit different. Read the rest of this entry »

Tune in tonight for new post on keyword density and keyword stuffing. See the differences from a white hat and black hat point of view and make sure you’ve got your terms and terminology down straight.

So using Jott is pretty cool to blog from my phone. I had surgery on my thumb, since that happened I haven’t been able to really blog as much as I would like to. Using Jott as an alternative, but only 30 seconds of recording, so this kind makes the blog post short.

That is what was reported this morning over the stock report.

Google has grown larger than, not only the popular soda company, but IBM as well. They aren’t done yet.

As most of you know, Google purchased YouTube. With the upcoming placement of ads in the videos, Google is set to make a very large profit. YouTube has such a wide range of exposure, it will be interesting to see how Google manages the ads.

I hope that in an attempt to keep the ads relevant to the content, Google will be improving their ability to properly index video.

Thank you, come again.
