The content writing advice that I’m about to give you is not what you may have learned in school. Last I checked, they don’t even have classes for this kind of thing. While most colleges offer some type of journalism or creative writing class, what they teach is form. This is not about form or sentence structure, as I don’t pay them much mind when writing content. Thankfully I have an excellent editor for that, my wife. My advice for writing content would Read the rest of this entry »
I know that I have not been posting with as much vigor as I had started off with. I have not forgoten about this blog, nor my readers. The reason I started this blog was to make new friends, and try out some new things. Like the Alert Mailing experiment that I had done a while back.
Th problem is Read the rest of this entry »
So as you may know, I’m new to golf. I’ve been shown some really great tips from friends, and family alike, and I’m really starting to improve. My swing still looks like a crash landing instead of a clean take off, but the short game is coming along smooth. My oldest brother Tom gave me a subscription to Golf Digest for my birthday in August, and I received my first copy today in the mail. It’s the October 2007 issue, with a picture of Jack Nicklaus from the 60’s on it. The magazine features “Jack’s All-Time Basics” on the cover, and has a great article written by Jim Flick starting on page 90. What the cover doesn’t mention is that this very magazine contains the key to golf’s greatest secrets.
Upon opening the magazine Read the rest of this entry »
I went golfing twice this weekend, and even got Mrs. Nicola out on the course for the first time on Saturday. By the 12th hole she was quite the bored bystander. Needless to say, we did have a great time together as blogging has cut into the time we spend hanging out and goofing off. It would be a nice life if blogging was the job, and not the job being the job.
More posts to come. I’m currently working on putting together a large article about some of the upcoming video games for this holiday season, as I have been privy to some early beta versions.
I’m going golfing today.
I was looking for something good to read today, so I went over to Digg. Nothing really struck my eye, so I thought I’d look around at profiles to see what I could find. I came across some really good Diggs on someone’s profile. In fact, most of them were really good and I wanted to share it. So I tried to Digg this person’s profile. Yeah, that does not work. I’m sure that’s in place to prevent Diggers from Digging their own Dugg stories.
There has been close to four times the amount of visitors (hi and thanks
) and one of the mentioned names did stop by in the comments. I have no proof, and honestly didn’t expect any raise of hands.
That’s not to say that it didn’t work. Several goals were met, and a few bonuses Read the rest of this entry »
It is no easy task to write every day. Harder yet when you feel a need, and not a want. By nature I tend to not enjoy my haves as much as my wants.
When I want to write is not always when I can, so I’ve been writing on the go, scribbling in my note pad like some nut. My friends at work joke Read the rest of this entry »
People drop things by mistake all the time. I’d guess cellphones are the most often dropped item that I’ve come across, next to keys, sunglasses, and (my fav) names. People drop names all the time, some by mistake, others with intent.
I’m going to give it a try with some intent.
The set-up:
I’m going to test the power of Google Alerts, by Read the rest of this entry »
I would hope not, but it seems that the lovely US Justice Department (oxymoron if you ask me) has dropped the hammer on this.
The USJD thinks that all content on the net is not equal, and that big name providers like AT&T and Verizon should be allowed to charge for what they deem premium.
No surprise really. There has been talk around the net that AT&T may have some friends in high places and with things going the way they are, those friends are inline to make a considerable amount of money.
My blog is very new, 5 days as of this posting. I’ve been putting up a post once a day, and I’ve enjoyed it so far. My post about SEP got a fair amount of page views, and two comments. ![]()
That post went up late Thursday, and on Friday morning, Google Alerts let me know my name was found…
A very helpful person with a Dog Blog showed me how to set the alerts up. It really is neat what they can do, and how fast they pick that stuff up.
I wonder, how well do they really work?
My post tomorrow will make what I’m getting at more clear.
to play golf like I do. I just picked up the sport, and have been hooked from day one. It’s odd that it took me this long to finally pick up, as my dad and my brothers, ALL play golf. Me, I was skateboarding. No polo shirt and khaki pants for me at 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday, nooo way.
Things have changed since then, and golf snuck up on me.
I lived in Northern California for a time, in the gorgeous mountain town of South Lake Tahoe. It was there that Read the rest of this entry »
Funny thing, Google had some ads on my blog. I didn’t put them there. Really.
I found out that I rank #1 for a very useless, but cool keyword phrase: lavish life of an SEO
We all had a good laugh about it at work, and so did my wife when I got home. She clicked the link from the SERP’s page to see the post as she had yet to read it, and there they were, all over the post.
Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy you say? Nope, the other “SEP” a.k.a. Search Engine Placement.
“I know you handle SEO and SEM consulting, but what about SEP?”
Honestly, that phrase is crap in my opinion. Sure, it has a nice sound to it. Perhaps it instils some false sense of confidence in the purchasers of this “SEP” service, but really now people, Search Engine Placement has a real name, it’s called Pay-Per-Click. As someone that lives the lavish life as an SEO/SEM consultant, I have a hard enough time explaining to “net-n00bs” a.k.a. Family members and the like what it is that I do. Toss in this lovely phrase “SEP” and it just helps paint the picture of some douche hackin’ away at Google.com to get your site “placed” at the top.
What I truly want to know is this, who coined this phrase? I might be able to dig that info up somewhere, sure, but throwing names around and having you guys/gals do the work makes it all the more fun. I’d start my quest for truth with the people that were around “back in the day” and are still in the know today.
Yep, this is my very first “official” blog post. Sure I’ve had a few other postings on the net since its been around, but never a true blog. So, one needs to make a start at some point, and here is mine. While it may seem upon your arrival that you have found a deserted blog, I assure it is not the case here. I dare you to come back and catch me slackin’ on the postin’ if you think I am, email your complaints to somebodyelse@noonecares.tv. Then make sure to check back the next day for updates!

I like more things than I have time to think about them. So to put it broadly, anything found on Earth and/or in the Wiki could at some point be blogged about here. If your a techie SEO/SEM photo lovin’ snowboard riddin sushi fan of good music with a happy soul type of person that likes nature and hates Bush, then you may want to hang around, check back, and enjoy the show.
*You don’t have to like sushi, and if you like Bush, don’t leave, he needs someone to stand up for him.
